Worked for Maj Gen Autery |
Dear Mrs. Autery and Autery Family,
I was so sad to read about Maj Gen Autery in the San Antonio Express News. I had the privilege and pleasure of working for and being mentored by him while I was assigned to HQ USAF/PRP from 1985 to 1987. Gen Autery was a great leader and a gentleman, a "class act." I appreciated all the support and encouragement he provided to me as I worked the halls of the Pentagon. He officiated at my promotion to major and he made the ceremony very special for me and my parents. You have my sympathy and prayers during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Linda Quintero, Colonel, USAF (Retired)

Dearest Charlotte,
Although we knew this time was coming, it is hard to accept Rube's passing. However, as Christians we know that Rube is now at peace and full of joy in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rube has experienced "the flight of a lifetime" as he passed into eternity and into the company of so many fellow believers, and we can each take comfort in Christ's promise that we will see Rube again. At that time we will be in perfect surroundings with so many "folks made perfect, once and for all" beause of their faith in God and in the supreme sacrifice of our Lord Jesus.
I so appreciate Rube's influence on me as a young airman with the 42nd TRS in France. It never left me or was forgotten. It was an honor to be a part of his air crew and I am proud to call him my friend. He was a great role model and a true world changer.
May God Bless each of you with his wonderful PEACE,
Sincerely,
Arnie Dahl and Dr. Patricia A. Daily-Dahl |

Charlotte - Rube was one-of-a-kind. It was a pleasure flying with him in Europe and working together on the B-66 memorial. His solid and unwavering support as president of the B-66 Destroyer Association made our memorial possible.
Suzy and I will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Charlotte and family,
Although we were in different squadrons while in France, we still shared many hours together on alert on the 60s. Rube always was the life of the party, great sense of humor, and an outstanding personality. So happy to have been able to get together at the B-66 reunions after all these years. God bless! |

Charlotte:
Linda and I offer our sincerest condolences to you and your family. Having had Reuben as my boss for a while I came to know what a special person he is. His sense of humor, along with his dedication and down-to-Earth common sense are things I will always remember. Linda remembers fondly the both of you during the time we were in the 28th Bomb Wing.
It was a delight to learn that Reuben had flown the B-66 and agreed to be the president of the B-66 Destroyer Association. His wisdom and practicality inspired all of us, especially his support and advice in acquiring and installing the B-66 memorial at the USAF Museum.
You and your family are in our thoughts. |
