Our Pastor |
In December of 1977 my parents introduced us to a very special AF Chaplain they had befriended after retiring. My bride to be, who had travelled from Germany, was staying with my parents prior to our wedding and I was still at Langley waiting for approval to get married and my leave to be approved, but he rearranged his schedule to free up the 28th of December, a very important date to us! Prior to our wedding we had the typical marriage couseling, but there's one thing he told us that has stuck with us. He said, "It's not always the Love that keeps the marriage together, but you'll find there are times that the marriage keeps the Love together".
We have always wanted to thank Pastor Hucabee for his sage advice it has served us well for these 32+ years. As we cannot thank him personally, we thank you Mrs. Hucabee and your family for sharing him with us and for your service.
Our prayers are with you as you celebrate his life and we encourage you to dwell on the good times and thank the Lord for his many blessing.
In Christ Love, Ed & Rae von Dran |

Our hearts were deeply sadden and yet made glad at the same time to hear of the homegoing of Ch Hucabee. We were blessed to meet and work with/for Ch Hucabee at Charleston AFB, Charleston, SC, when we were assigned there in July of 1986. Ch Hucabee and Janice were so kind and loving towards us. They opened their hearts and home where we were welcomed as family. Shortly after arriving to Charleston, I was assigned to preach a funeral service for a young airman. Because I proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ, the brass was highly upset. My career could have been over. But Ch Hucabee, the true man of God that he was stood by my side. After receiving a call from the Base Commander, who had received a call from the Wing Commander, Ch Hucabee told the Base Commander, (and I shall never forget his words) "Sir", he said, "I will stand behind any of my chaplain's anyday for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ!" A number of other Ch's I worked for over the years would have bowed down to Baal to save their own necks, but not Ch Hucabee. Janice, please know that our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, and remember the words of Jesus, 'I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die,' (John 11:25-26b). With much love. Lorenza & Helena |

My deepest condolences to Janice and your family. Wally and I were classmates at La. College from which we both graduated. He has been a long-distance friend for half a century, and although we didn't see each other very often , our reunions were memorable events. I am so proud of what Wally did with his life, and what he acomplished in his Christian Ministry.
I know that the family will miss his physical presence, and there's nothing I can say that will relieve any of the pain. They know, though, that Wally has reached his goal! He might have lost a fight, even several, but he won THE battle! He now gets to receive his reward! He is free; he is whole again! He is where he wants to be; with the God he loved, whom he served so faithfully for all his earthly life.
May that same loving God pass His hands over you and give you comfort, and peace.
Ralph, and for Betty, Campbell |

Friend/31 years |
First, we were classmates at Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB, AL, and then served together in the US Air Force in Norway. Wally was really one of finest men we have known. He made a positive difference in the lives of those he met and served. He was truly a Christian and we cared for him and his wife deeply. May God richly bless and keep his family and friends in the sure knowledge that Wally lived a life that brought honor to God, and we're certain that Wally and God are together today. |

WALLY was a dear friend!I always looked forward to our sometime lengthy conversations covering local and world problems (we solved many and left many unsolved for others). His radiant and genuine smile and always beaming personality was so refreshing and will be sincerely missed! We loved this wonderful man and oh how he will be missed! Gods love for mankind was TRUELY illustrated by WALLY, his life and his relationship with the people that he came in contact with. Mrs. Huckabee,
I don't know if you remember me, but I worked as a Chapel Manager for your husband in Norway. I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I lost my wife to Malanoma about 3 and a half years ago, so I know how terrible it is to watch your spouse go through all that. I think about you guys from time to time and I want you to know that Chaplain Hucabee made a positive difference in my life. My thoughts will be with you in the months ahead. Kelly Gustin |

Dear Hucabee Family:
Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time.
As Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom.
It would be difficult to measure the impact he made on the many whose lives he touched, personally and professionally. His commitment to family, friends, our community, and to serving our great nation leaves a wonderful legacy. May the love and the wonderful memories you shared with him help you when you need it most. He will never be forgotten, and your family will be remembered in my prayers. |
